7 Months Old! (and Mason's First Halloween)

Technically Mason won't be 7 months old till Friday, so I am a little early.  His sleeping habits are the same but his eating habits are a little different.  He wants to eat more and more solid food and less bottles.  He is now sitting up unassisted with only a few falls and now he is trying to pull himself up a little.  He has tried using the changing table and me to get himself up on at least his knees.  When he had his 6 month appointment he got his first flu shot and some other vaccinations.  He weighed 18 lbs 11 ounces and was 27 1/2 inches long.  He was 47 and 53 percentile on those but his head is 97th percentile.  :)  The doctor says he still looks good and healthy and gave him the go ahead to eat almost anything except of course cow's milk, eggs (plain but can have things with egg in them), honey, etc.  He loves his baby food and will lick something we give him but doesn't like the small pasta noodles we have tried giving him or mashed up real veggies.  He loves drinking out of, chewing and playing with his sippy cup.  His naps during the day have gotten better and longer but he is ( and I am ) in the bad habit of him sleeping in my arms.  Next week we are going to try putting him down for naps in his crib.  He will nap there but only like 20-30 mins.  Naps in my arms last 1-2 hours!  It will be a struggle but I can't hold him forever. :(  Still can't believe how fast he is growing.  Pictures include him with cousins and second cousins at his great-grandma's 90th birthday parts, his first halloween, with Bapa and Mama P's doggie, and just some random ones.

Fall Photos

Thought I would share some fun fall pictures of Mason.  He had fun sitting in the leaves and trying to figure out what they were.

6 Months Old!

Yesterday Mason turned a half a year old!  He is growing like crazy!

Size:  Waiting to find out October 18th at the doctor for his 6 month check up...and shots :(

Sleep:   It has been all over the place lately.  Sometimes he naps a lot during the day but mostly he doesn't nap at all and if he does it is very short naps.  Yesterday he woke up around 7 then only had two naps for about a total of 1 hour.  He went to bed at about 6:30pm, woke up at about 8 to cry for his pacifier, and then screaming at 4:45.  He got a bottle then went back to sleep in his crib for 1 hour then slept with me in bed for another two.  Tonight he took a quick nap at about 6, had a bath, bottle and 2 books then asleep for about 10 minutes.  Then he was up for about a half an hour and I am just waiting to see when he wakes up tomorrow...hopefully around 7 like normal and not before 5 am!

New Things:  He is getting better and better at sitting up.  He is usually sitting up with the help of his boppy pillow so if he tumbles backwards he lands on that but I have to watch the front of him or he tries to take a dive off the couch head first.  On the floor he is doing good too and I can't believe soon I will have an independent sitter!  He also grabs for things all the time now...especially my cell phone or the remote.  We grabbed an extra remote, took out the batteries and he plays with that.  Now when we feed him he is always grabbing at his bowl or spoon so now we have to watch that too.

Food:  We just switched him to the fast nipple bottles so his bottles are going a lot quicker which is nice for when he decides he wants to eat right when we are.  He eats solid foods daily and I am still trying to get in a schedule with that.  I am pretty sure teeth about to pop out because I can see and slightly feel something and a side effect of that (teething) is poor eating so the last few days with solids have been hell.  He doesn't seem to like anything we give him.  We did try his first meat (apples with chicken) and he eat that really good but when we tried again a day later he wouldn't eat that or the veggies we gave him.  New things he can start (but we haven't yet) are egg yolk and yogurt.  I bought some baby banana yogurt but haven't worked up the courage to give it to him and I'm not quite sure how to do the egg yolk so I am waiting for his appointment with the doctor first.

Best Moments:  This past football Sunday Mason took an hour and a half nap with Russel on the couch while I got some things done and took a looonngg shower.  It is always great when the phone rings and it is Russel, I put it on speaker and Mason smiles at the phone.  Plus when Dad gets home he puts on the shy smiles because he is sooooo excited to see him.  Mason also just loves the dogs.  Russel and I have to work at the laughs but just one glance at the dogs he is smiling or laughing his head off.  He has started "petting" them or actually pulling at their fur but they have been pretty good about it so far and just lick him like crazy when he does.

Well I guess just the pictures are left...There are some from the beginning of this week and also from when he turned 6 months...

Mason's Baptism (and some extras)

On Saturday September 26th, Mason finally got baptized at St. Mathews chruch in Warrens, WI.  The pastor was very friendly and Mason smiled at him during the baptism.  My sister Melissa and Russel's brother Andy are the godparents and we couldn't be happier!  We had a nice little gettogether afterwards at Russel's Mom's house.  My grandma, parents, sister, and friend Candis came plus Russel's grandparents, brother and sister-in-law, and Aunt & Uncle came.  It was nice to see everyone and we got some really nice gifts that hoperfully Mason will treasure when he gets older.  He was really well behaved that day and loves getting all the attention!  Later on this week I will post some more pictures and update everyone since Mason will be turning 6 months old!  A whole half a year!  His doctor's appointment isn't until the 18th of October but it is actually at 4:20 pm so Russel can come with to a pediatrician appointment for the first time with this doctor and since Mason was a week old.  I am excited to see how big Mason has got and get some questions answered but my happy that he gets even more shots.  Good thing it is only a few and it has been 2 months since his last shots.  We also know how to handle it now!
